At Dixie Safe & Lock Service Inc., we understand how frustrating it is to be locked out of your home or vehicle. The wait for a locksmith to come to the rescue can be an agonizing one. One of our goals as a locksmithing company that specializes in providing fast, affordable unlocking services is to get to our customers promptly.
We’re located on the Gulf Freeway just blocks from the 610. This allows our locksmiths to easily get to pretty much anywhere in the Houston area fast. We’re only about 15 minutes from downtown Houston, or 30 minutes during rush hour. If you’re in Pasadena, you can expect our locksmiths to arrive in about 15 minutes. If you’re in South Houston, you can expect us in five or 10 minutes. We can get to Pearland in about 20 minutes. Even suburbs in the west Houston metro area, like Missouri City, will only take us about 25 or 30 minutes to reach.
It’s not hard to empathize with our customers when they’re locked out of their home or car. Everyone knows how boring and frustrating waiting around with nothing to do can be, which is why you can rely on us to do our best to get to you as quickly as possible. Our goal is to provide fast response times regardless of the time of day.
Factors That May Affect Response Time
- Traffic conditions
- Construction and detours
- Accidents
- Weather
- Other unlocking jobs in line
If your locksmith is going to be delayed or will take longer than usual, we will make sure to let you know.
How Long Will It Take Once the Locksmith Arrives?
Thankfully you won’t have to wait too long once your locksmith arrives. Traditional car, truck or SUV locks should only take five to 10 minutes for a Dixie Safe & Lock Service Inc. locksmith to open.
Keep in mind that different types of vehicles and vehicle security systems may result in longer work times. At Dixie Safe & Lock Service Inc., our
automotive locksmiths
can open all types of locks, and even reprogram keyless entry remote controls and make new transponder keys and chips. More advanced proprietary systems may require the dealership to correct.
My Key Fob or Car Battery Is Dead – Can a Locksmith Get Me in to My Vehicle?
If the battery on the key fob is dead, hopefully you’re either at home, where you have extra batteries, or near a shopping center where you can pick some up. You may need a small screwdriver or coin to open your key fob to replace the battery.
Alternatively, some manufacturers offer remote unlocking services or the ability to unlock your vehicle with an app on your phone. Many of these services require you to manually set it up, and some require a subscription.
Most manufacturers also include a mechanical key in the key fob you’re given, but it’s often hard to notice. Look closely at your fob to see if there’s a catch or some other piece that looks like it can pop out. Chances are good that there’s a key hidden in there that you can use to open the door.
If your key fob is dead and your car is push to start, you may be able to find an actual key slot somewhere on the steering column. On push-to-start Mazdas, the button is a plastic cap, and underneath you’ll find a key slot. Many other modern push-to-start vehicles will have similarly hidden manual start options.
